MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP- Suzanne (Sterner) Barley, 72, of York, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Richard E. Barley. The couple celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on June 24, 2010. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with an Amaranth service by the officers of the court at the start of the service. The Reverend James E. VanZandt will be officiating at the service. There will be a visitation from 9:30-10:30a.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Barley was born in York on August 27, 1938, a daughter of the late E. L. "Bob" and Anna (Bowers) Sterner. She taught at Northeastern York School District for ten years before Ann was born. Mrs. Barley was a lifelong member of Bethany United Methodist Church and a member of the Sunshine Girls Class. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Col. James Smith Chapter; Rainbow Chapter No. 517 Order of The Eastern Star, where she was Worthy Matron in 1975 and 1976; and a member of Dr. J.M. Hyson Memorial Court No. 106 Order of Amaranth, of which she was both Royal Matron and Royal Patron. She was also a Charter Member of the Social Order of the Beauceant No. 265 in Elizabethtown and past President of Ladies Auxiliary of York Gethsemane Commandery No. 21. She was a 1956 Graduate of Red Lion High School and a 1960 Graduate of Millersville University. Mrs. Barley leaves a daughter, Ann McMaster and her husband Tim of York; three grandsons, Terry Lee Laughman III who lives with his grandpa, and Collin and Malcolm McMaster, who live with Ann and Tim McMaster in York.
