Suzanne M. (Genin) Horn

YORK – Suzanne M. (Genin) Horn, 88, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Francis R. Horn. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with her pastor, The Rev. Daniel V. Biles, III. A viewing will be held from 1-2:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Born March 9, 1926 in Chalons, Marne, France a daughter of the late Camille and Henriette (Perinet) Genin, she met her husband during his active duty Army service in Suippes, France in March of 1945. Over the years Frank and Suzanne would return to France 17 times to visit their family. Mrs. Horn retired from York Dispatch Newspaper after more than 20 years of service. In addition to her membership at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, she belonged to knitting clubs at Windy Hill Senior Center and Church of the Open Door; and was an avid card player. She will be remembered as the “Best” mother in the world and a terrific grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Horn is survived by a son, Robert C. Horn of York; a daughter, Francine H. and husband Richard Throne of York; two grandchildren, Andrew C. and wife Shannon Throne and Allison S. and husband Jeremiah Altland; two great grandchildren, Corey S. Throne and Haydn G. Altland; a brother, Guy Genin of France; four sisters, Monique Beck of Manchester, Mireille Varoquier, Gilberte Fauconnier, and Francoise Pouchet all of France. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Genin; and two sisters, Collette Hucner and Jeanine Grondin.
