Susan A. (Concino) Thompson

York—Susan A. (Concino) Thompson, 67, died Monday, June 20, 2016 at Rest Haven Nursing Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be 3 PM, Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with Certified Celebrant Kasie Watkins officiating. A viewing/visitation will be held from 1-3 PM, at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Born July 4, 1948 in York, she was a daughter of Priscilla A. (Shorey) Concino of York and the late John J. Concino. Her dedicated career in the medical field consisted of being, a Certified Medical Asst and Certified Phlebotomist. Through her career she was employed at York and Memorial Hospitals, as well as Urology Associates @ Apple Hill. As a teacher for many years at YTI Career Institute and York County School of Technology, she was devoted to her students and had a passion for teaching. A 1966 graduate of York Catholic High School, she also attended New York Foundling Hospital-School of Nursing. She was a member of the National Phlebotomy Assoc., loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time at the beach, especially Stone Harbor. Ms. Thompson is survived by one daughter, Heather S. Galla and her husband, Brad of Marietta; three grandchildren, Hayley Justine Thompson of Port St. Lucie, FL, Anthony J. Riker of Delta and Carson M. Riker of Marietta; two brothers, John S. Concino and his wife, Cynthia of York and David S. Concino and his wife, Jane of Hanover; niece, Abby J. Concino of Philadelphia and Long Time Friend/Co-Worker, Gary L. Campbell of York.
