Sudie M. (Moomaw) Griffith

LEWISBERRY - Sudie M. [Moomaw] Griffith, 98, of Lewisberry, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carlisle. She was the wife of the late Gurney H. Griffith. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, April 28, 2008 at Lewisberry United Methodist Church, 309 Market Street, Lewisberry, with her pastor, The Rev. Sharon K. Miller officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 PM Sunday at Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc.,305 West Front Street, Lewisberry and from 9:30-10:30 AM Monday at the Church. Burial will be in Parkville Cemetery. Born September 6, 1909 in Orkney Springs, VA, a daughter of the late Simon A. and Edna [Moomaw] Moomaw, she retired as a cook from West Shore School District and had also worked at Blue Ridge Haven West Nursing Home. She was the eldest member of Lewisberry U.M. Church and had been active in the Lewisberry UMC Womens Circle and Sunday school; was a life member of Lewisberry Fire Co. and Ladies Auxiliary; active with Red Land Senior Center group; volunteered at Annie E.Sterline Library, and was a former Democratic Committee woman for Lewisberry Borough. Mrs. Griffith had also been the secretary/treasurer at Parkville Cemetery for many years. Mrs. Griffith is survived by a son, Robert E. and wife Kathryn S. Griffith of Lewisberry; two daughters, Betty L. and husband Richard E. Cover of Mechanicsburg and Alice I. Meyers of Camp Hill; a daughter in law, Connie W. Griffith of Etters; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a great great grandson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Celia Griffith; a son, Lynn H. Griffith; a son in law, John W.
