BURLINGTON- Stuart Norton, 79, of Burlington, PA passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Ruth (Williams) Madigan Norton whom he married on March 2, 1984. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 16th at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Mountain Lake Cemetery with military rites given. Stuart was born on February 1, 1931, son of the late Eugene L. and Frances M. (White) Norton. He served his country in the U.S. Army and after was an operating engineer and mechanic for Local # 832 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Stuart enjoyed the outdoors, spending his time maintaining his wood lots and surrounding properties, caring for his pond and fish, tending to his flowers and watching birds. He also enjoyed his family and the times they spent together. Stuart's family includes his wife Ruth, his sons Chris (Cindi) Norton of Burlington, PA, Scott (Karen) Norton of Troy, PA, his daughters Pamela (Rex) Kingsley and Julie (George) Demas, both of Burlington, PA, his step sons James (Bobbie) Madigan of Luthers Mills, PA, and Dean (Stacie) Madigan of Mountain Lake, PA, his step daughters Anne Madigan of Leona, PA, and Marilee (Dana) Neer of Indiana, ten grandchildren, thirteen step grandchildren, two great grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, his brother Dale (Marguerite) Norton of Athens, PA, his brother-in-law Clarence "Bus" Williams of Franklindale, PA, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lyle and Bobbie Harris of Monroeton, PA, his special friend Derek Owen, along with several nieces and nephews. Stuart is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Phyllis (Fairbanks) Norton who passed away in 1981, his sister Alma Selleck and brother-in-law Robert Selleck, his other brother-in-law Harold "Jake" Burlingame, his sisters-in-law Jean Barnes and Vera Mae Norton, and his step daughter-in-law Joy Madigan.
