Steven James Harlacker

YORK- Steven James Harlacker, 71, died on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at UPMC Memorial Hospital.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Amy Favorito officiating and full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed around 6 p.m. at HeffnerCare.com by searching Steven’s obituary page.

Born on January 4, 1953 in York, he was the son of Norma Jean (Livingston) Harbold and the late Dale Harlacker. Steven was a heat treat machinist at Caterpillar until their closing and went on to work in the factory at the Starbucks plant.

Mr. Harlacker served our country in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Vietnam War. Steven was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Steven is survived by his two daughters, Heather Harlacker and her companion, Shaun Desenberg of York and Erin Essock and her husband, Christopher of East Petersburg; four grandchildren, Lily Nugent, Riley Godfrey, Sophie Desenberg and Piper Desenberg; brother, Dan Harlacker; two sisters, Kathy Minnier and Colleen Lewis; nephews, Donald Minnier and Eli Harlacker; step brother, Tim Weissinger and his wife, Carrie; and four step sisters, Marjorie Shenberger and her husband, Donnie, Kristina Kenney-Garcia and her husband, Eddie, Penny Shatzer Baker and Iona Nauman. He was preceded in death by his step parents, Donald and Judy Kenney; and step sister, Robin Grothe.
