MONTOURSVILLE - Steve M. “Tippy” Kulka, age 85, formerly of S. Renovo, died at Valley View Nursing Center in Montoursville on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012. He was born in Renovo on Sept. 15, 1926, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Tomko) Kulka. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Morse Code specialist. Steve was a member of the American Legion Post #1 in Williamsport, was an avid fly fisherman and always had a great garden every year. In his younger years, he played baseball with the S. Renovo Yankees. He loved pitching horseshoes and going to his camp near Snow Shoe. He worked as a mail carrier for the Renovo Post Office and also for the Pennsylvania Railroad. For enjoyment he helped out at Morgan’s Pool Room. Steve is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law: Ethel M. Kulka of Muncy. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Renovo at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 with Rev. Fr. Charles Ugo celebrating. Friends will be received at the Church one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Military services will be held at the cemetery. Memorials are requested to St. Joseph Catholic Church Improvement Fund, 925 Huron Avenue, Renovo, Pa. 17764. Maxwell Funeral Home of Renovo.
