NEW CUMBERLAND- Steve B. Koontz, 62, of Fairview Township, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at Harrisburg Hospital. He was the husband of Terry L. (Ness) Koontz. The couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on June 10, 2017. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Daybreak Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, 321 Gettysburg Pike in Mechanicsburg, with a viewing from 10-11:30 a.m. His pastor, The Reverend Ronald O’Neil will be officiating at the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be private in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. Steve was born in York on March 22, 1955, the son of Russell Koontz of Chincoteague, VA and Darla (Englar) Mell of Graham, NC. He was self employed in print sales. Steve was a member of Daybreak Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Mechanicsburg. He was a member of Dallastown Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and just being out in God’s Creation. Steve leaves two sons, Brett Koontz and his fiancée Deb Scalia of Chambersburg, and Eric S. Koontz and his wife Jennifer N. of York Haven; two grandchildren, Jeremy S. Koontz and Ryan N. Koontz; five sisters, Kathy Miller, Stephanie Torres, Kim Gotwalt, Michelle Sawyer, and Lori Breen; his step mother, Donna Koontz of York and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Koontz. Memorial contributions may be made to Furry Friends Network, P.O. Box 519 Boiling Springs, PA 17007 or New Life for Girls, 5925 Lewisberry Rd. Dover, PA 17315.
