Sterling H. Landis

SPRING GROVE- Sterling H. Landis, 75, of Jackson Township, died Friday, September 2, 2011 at home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Trevadell M. (Crone) Landis. The couple would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on September 22nd. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Trinity (Roth’s) United Church of Christ, 6417 Church Rd. in Spring Grove. His pastor, The Reverend Gene Edwards will be officiating at the service. Viewings will be 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday both at the church. Burial will be in St. Jacob’s Union Cemetery in York New Salem immediately following the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Landis was born in Codorus Township on July 12, 1936, son of the late Vernon B. and Hilda C. (Bankert) Landis. He retired from P.H. Glatfelter with 45 years of service, and was a member of the Glatfelter Quarter Century Club as well as the Spring Grove Community Center. He loved and was proud of his family, and especially enjoyed all of the family get togethers. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, was an avid gardener, and liked playing cards with the Golden Gatherings group at his church. In addition to his loving wife, Sterling leaves five children: Karen Laughman and her husband Gene of Abbottstown, Kevin Landis and his wife Kelly of Thomasville, Kenneth Landis and his wife Missy of York, Kathryn Forry and her husband Tim of Dallastown, and Kristina Martin and her husband Dan of West York; six grandchildren; a great granddaughter; four sisters, Hattie Miller, Ruthella Delozier, Catherine Myers, and Pauline Cramer; and two brothers, Earl and Harold Landis.
