Stephen M. Murphy

Mt. Wolf—Stephen M. Murphy, 69, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at Dallastown Nursing Center. He was the husband of the late Brenda D. (Shue) Murphy. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11AM, Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Starview United Church of Christ, 4832 N. Sherman Street Ext., Mt. Wolf with his pastor, the Rev. Laura C. Bair officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11AM, Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Heiland View Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born August 16, 1947 in York, he was a son of the late Donald B. Murphy, Sr., and Janet R. (Snyder) Murphy. He was employed as a maintenance electrician for several years with PPL—Brunner Island A United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was also a 1965 graduate of Red Lion High School and a member of Starview United Church of Christ in Mt. Wolf. He loved taking care of his yard, working on cars and was an avid reader. Mr. Murphy is survived by one son, Michael S. Murphy and wife, Kimberly of York; one daughter, Tammy A. Barlett and husband, Mike of Mt. Wolf; five grandchildren, Adrianna and Clayton Murphy, Chloe, Stephen and Allison Barlett; three brothers, Donald Murphy, Jr, and Rodney and Chris Murphy; one sister, Donaleen Robinson and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rick and Rodger Murphy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to York Cancer Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Rd, Suite 194, York, Pa 17403.
