WEST YORK Stephen A. Durs, 59, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007, at his home. He was the husband of Carol A. (Kinneman) Durs, with whom he celebrated a 42nd wedding anniversary on June 23. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, with the Rev. Richard B. Starr officiating. Burial with military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Viewings will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, at the chapel. Born in York on March 7, 1947, Mr. Durs was the son of the late Robert and Jacqueline R. (Horner) Durs. He was a CNC plasma machine operator at Temtco and previously at York International. Along with his wife, he owned and operated "Ye Old Salem Strip Shop" in York New Salem for many years. He attended West York Area High School, and later, during Vietnam, served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid bicycle enthusiast. He was a member of the Rail Trail Association, the Spring Grove Sportsman Club, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Durs also leaves his daughter, Christine Senft and husband, Dan of Shiloh; his son, Timothy Durs and wife, Lisa of York; his two grandchildren, Jason Durs and Alexis Senft; and his sister, Cynthia Parnell of Las Vegas, Nev. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael L. Flinchbaugh.
