Stella (Ostrowski) Zilinsky

AVOCA-Stella Zilinsky, a resident of Wesley Village, and Avoca, passed away Thursday in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in Avoca, she was a daughter of the late Konstanty "Frank" and Lena (Tadieski) Ostrowski. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. Prior to retiring, she was employed as a machine operator by the former Swanee Corporation, now Cascade Tissue, Ransom. Her husband, John Zilinsky passed away in 1966. A daughter, Janet Corbett and 12 brothers and sisters, Mary Korfi, Sophie Fila, Victoria Kupcho, Martha Dudzick and Irene Romanecz; brothers, Louis, Edward, Benjamin, William, Joseph, Sylvester and Charles also preceded her in death. Surviving are her son, Edward Zilinsky and his wife, Wanda, Mountain Top; daughters Frances Galasso and her husband, Frank, Sarasota, FL; Rose Ann Intihar and her husband, Andrew, Catlett, VA; granddaughters, Lisa, Vicki, Allison and Jennifer; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in SS. Peter and Paul Church, Avoca. The Reverend Joseph R. Kakareka will officiate. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Moosic. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
