Stanley Stevens Snyder

YORK- Stanley Stevens Snyder, 81, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Julia K. (Klinger) Snyder. The couple was married January 1, 1955 and spent 53 years together before Julia’s passing in 2008. Born March 1, 1935 in Harrisburg, Stanley was a son of the late Claire W. and Florence E. (Stevens) Snyder. Stan was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. He was a devoted NASCAR fan and loved drum and bugle corps music. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren’s talents and followed their careers with great admiration. He was a kind, selfless and generous man who always thought of others before himself. Mr. Snyder is survived by three daughters, Pamela Luse and her husband Bradley of Berlin, MD, Susan Snyder and Rodger Troupe of York and Leisha Kunkel and her late husband Scott of York; four grandchildren, Gregory Lauer, Steven Lauer, Emily Kunkel and Alex Kunkel. Stan was also very fond of his caretaker, Christine Perry, who brought humor and kindness to him every week for years. He considered her as a member of the family. In addition to his wife and parents, Stanley was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Snyder. In lieu of a memorial contribution, Stan’s family feels random acts of kindness to others best depicts the life he led. To share happiness is to honor Stan.
