Windsor - Stanley L. Horning, 65, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Joyce (Burk) Horning to whom he was married for 41 years. A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2009 at St. John's (Blymire's) United Church of Christ, 1009 S. Blymire Rd, Dallastown, with his pastor, the Rev. Curtis R. Weber, officiating. A visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Born July 28, 1944 in York Township, he was the son of the late Harry L. and Cora E. (Ross) Horning and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He had a dedicated 28 year career as a tool maker with Caterpillar and then worked for Kinard Trucking as a driver until his retirement in 2006. After retiring from Kinard, his enjoyment for working and staying busy led him to start his own business, Dependable Home Repairs, Inc. In addition to his wife, Mr. Horning is also survived by a daughter, Jennifer L. Mattes and her husband Robert A., of York, one sister, Judith A. James of Leesburg, Fla., two nephews, Alan and Chad and one niece, April. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey L. Horning. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John's (Blymire's) United Church of Christ, 1009 S. Blymire Rd, Dallastown, Pa 17313.
