Stanley J. Rasmus, Jr.

YORK- Stanley J. Rasmus, 89, passed away on Tuesday, May 01, 2012 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Catharine L. (McLaughlin) Rasmus, who passed away on October 16, 2010. The couple wed on April 6, 1947 and was married for over 64 years. Services for Mr. Rasmus are private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on December 3, 1922, Stanley was a son of the late Stanley and Alivina (Hauschild) Rasmus, Sr. He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years until his retirement. Mr. Rasmus served our country for two years in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Rasmus is survived by a son, Stanley Rasmus III and his wife, Joyce of Waynesville, N.C.; a granddaughter, Amelia Rasmus of Cary, N.C.; a niece, Donna Bieda of York; and a nephew Doug McLaughlin and his wife, Suzanne of York.
