Sonja R. (Laduke) Smith

WILLIAMSPORT- Sonja R. (LaDuke) Smith, 69, of South Williamsport, died on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Williamsport Hospital. Sonja was born in Williamsport, PA on October 12, 1938 and was a daughter of the late Donald J. and Edith (Lammers) LaDuke. She was a 1956 St. Josephs Catholic High School graduate, worked for C.A. Reed, GTE Sylvania, and retired from Grumman Olsen where she was a riveter. Sonja was a faithful member of Annunciation Catholic Church. She was a former member of the South Williamsport Moose, and the Duboistown VFW. Sonja was a collector of angels, loved to shopping and go to yard sales, liked watching movies, and always donated to charities in need. Her fondest love was for her family, nothing was better than spending time with her granddaughter Karley. Sonja is survived by her companion of many years; Charles F. Artman of South Williamsport, her sons; Jeffrey L. (Janet) Smith of Christiansburg, VA and Christopher L. (Shelley) Smith, Sr. of Muncy, PA, her daughter Debra S. Smith of Benton, PA, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and three cousins; Jeanie Pricher and Donna Wertman, both of Williamsport, PA, and Kathy Farr of Jersey Shore, PA. In addition to his parents, Sonja was preceded in death by her husband Albert L. Smith who died on December 5, 1974, and her grandmother Mary J. Kropp. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport with the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with the Reverend Father Charles Cummings officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 14th at Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport, PA.
