YORK- Sitisanijah “Sonja” (Kasanoemar) Warta, 56, of Conewago Twp., died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Walter W. Warta. The couple celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on November 26, 2015. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 1-2 p.m. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Sonja was born in Coronie, Suriname, South America on August 21, 1959, the daughter of the late Sarip and Tominie (Wasimin) Kasanoemar. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Sonja leaves three sons, Steven Warta, Kevin Warta and his fiancé Cristi of Somerset and Shawn Warta and his wife Emily of Manchester; two daughters, Golda Wasimin of Miami, FL and Stephanie Thomas of York Haven; a step son, Tony Warta of Norway; 19 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers; five sisters; and a cousin Martin Wasimin of York Haven. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
