Sidney R. Lewis

DALLASTOWN – Sidney R. Lewis, 93, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Pauline M. (Heininger) Lewis to whom he shared 55 wonderful years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday November 20, 2024 at Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Dr. John A. Harrington officiating. Burial will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, and on Wednesday from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM. 

Born March 1, 1931 in Renick, WV, Sidney was a son of the late George and Mary Ethel (Crane) Lewis. After graduating from Renick High School, Sidney worked for York Electric Machining Company before he spent time in the Army from 1953 – 1955. After returning home, Sidney worked for many years as a welder for Cole Steel, and later retired from Columbia Products. 

Sidney was a long-time member of Emanuel United Methodist Church in Loganville. In his free time, Sidney enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he had a green thumb when it came to his garden.

Sidney leaves behind his two children, Dennis R. Lewis and his wife Diane, and Debra S. Harrington and her husband Steve; two grandchildren, Alexa Burns and her husband Joe, and Jed Lewis and his wife April; two great grandchildren, Landon Burns, and Solomon Lewis; a sister, Wanda Blankenship; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Sidney is preceded in death by a grandson, Jared Lewis; five brothers, Bradford, Orval, Robert, Henry, and Harry; three sisters, Mary, Lulla Belle, and Velma; three half brothers, James, Lacey, and Hobert; and a half sister, Betheleen.
