Shirley (Wertz) Poe

W. MANCHESTER TWP-Shirley (Wertz) Poe, 88, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Normandie Ridge Nursing Home. She was the loving wife of the late Giles W. Poe, Jr. to whom she was married to for 60 years on February 11, 2010. A celebration of life tribute service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with Peter A. Seiler, Jr., Resident Life Administrator officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Strinestown Cemetery. Mrs. Poe was born December 16, 1921 in York, a daughter of the late Robert and Grace (Hibner) Wertz. She was a member of Strinestown United Brethren Church. Mrs. Poe enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, and putting together puzzles. Mrs. Poe is survived by two sons, Arthur A. Martin and wife, Glenda M. of York, and Barry L. Wertz, Sr. and wife, Nancy of Huston, TX; two daughters, Corinne G. Peifer and husband, Kenneth J. of Mechanicsburg, and Deltha A. Sands and husband, Jack of York; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister Genevieve Stone of Manchester; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
