Shirley M. Shelly, 90, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Misericordia Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Dale L. Shelly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00PM Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church, 85 Old Church Ln., York. Officiating the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Kelly Shiflett. A visitation will be held immediately following the service at church. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
Born June 30, 1932 in York, she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Agnes A.V. (Hoskin) Einsig.
She co-owned Shelly’s Furniture with her husband in Columbia for many years. Shirley also worked as a cigar maker and as a seamstress at Tighe Industries in East Prospect.
A long-time member of Kreutz Creek Presbyterian Church, she was also a member of the Susquehanna Senior Center in Craley, where she sang with the chorus. She was a past member of the East Prospect Lions Club and Farm Women of East Prospect. She was a people person who loved being on the go, dancing, laughing and traveling.
Mrs. Shelly is survived by her daughter, Kathy S. Mierzwa and wife, Alice of York; two grandsons, Scott A. Shelly and wife, Lisa and Chad E. Shelly and wife, Anne; two great grandchildren, Riley S. Shelly and Toby J. Barnhart and long-time roommate and close friend, Connie Crull. Shirley’s extended family also includes those she considered her “kids”. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry R. Shelly and her boyfriend, Carl Anderson.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Misericordia Nursing Home for their compassionate care and making Shirley feel like part of their family.
