YORK- Shirley (Blann) Cooper, 85, died on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Rest Haven. She was the wife of almost 15 years to the late Aubrey E. Cooper, who died on July 25, 2015. A celebration of life tribute service was held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. Born on March 4, 1934 in Pikesville, MD, she was a daughter of the late George R. and Emma C. (Joy) Blann. Shirley was an Executive Legislative Assistant for the state of Maryland for 39 ½ years until her retirement in 1993. Mrs. Cooper was a member of Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene, and a former member of Crossroads Church of the Nazarene in Ellicott City, MD. Shirley was a member of the “Alleluias”, a Christian ensemble chorus in Maryland, where she was able to travel across the USA, Australia, and England. Along with choir and chorus, she also enjoyed playing the piano and organ. Mrs. Cooper is survived by her brother, Harold L. Blann and wife, Elizabeth of York; and two nieces, Patricia L. Blann and Dr. Linda S. Blann and husband, Dr. Terry M. Gordon, all of York. Through her marriage to Aubrey, she was gifted with a stepson, Timothy D. Cooper and wife, Debbie of Candor, NY; three stepdaughters, Sharon E. Heaps and husband, Curtis (Mike) of Port Deposit, MD, Deborah L. Elliot and husband, Ronald of Mulberry, FL and Theresa L. Cooper of Manassas, VA. There are grandchildren and great grandchildren who grew to love Shirley from her marriage to Aubrey.
