MILTON - Shirley B. (Burns) Miller, 80, died on Friday, October 23, 2009 at her residence. Shirley was born on June 14, 1929 in Milton and was the daughter of the late Earl and Mabel (Bruner) Burns. She was a 1947 graduate of the Milton Area High School. She was married to the late Donald J. Miller for 50 years until his death in 2006. She had retired from American Home Foods after 30 plus years service. Shirley was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, New Columbia. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, gardening, feeding and watching the birds and loved camping at Little Mexico Campground. Most of all, she loved being with her family. Shirley is survived by one daughter and son-in-law; Sandy K. and Dan Baker of Milton, two grandchildren; Matthew D. Baker and his wife Casie of Lewisburg and Danita M. Orr and her husband Troy of Alaska, two step grandchildren; Ryan D. Baker and his wife Megan of New Columbia and John R. Miller and his wife Jacquie of Alaska, one great grandson; Christian D. Orr of Alaska and two step great grandsons; Kaleb W. and Gehrig M. Baker, both of New Columbia, one sister-in-law; Mary Benfer of Lewisburg and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son; Dusty Miller, two brothers; John and Dyson Burns and one sister; Sarah Johnson. There will be a public viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Her pastor, the Reverend Douglas J. Seagle will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's United Church of Christ, 906 Old Rte. 15, New Columbia, PA 17856.
