Shirley A. Mcguire

RENOVO - Shirley A. McGuire, age 77, died at her residence on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010. She was born in Williamsport on Oct. 25, 1932, a daughter of the late Leslie D. and Mabel V. (Divine) Dowling. Shirley was a graduate of Renovo High School, was Methodist by faith, and worked as a bartender at the Renovo Elks Club for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and traveling. She was an excellent cook and loved going to the beach. Shirley mostly enjoyed sitting on her porch, having sleepovers with her grandson: Arthur, and loved the Flaming Foliage Festival activities at her home. Surviving are her sons: Michael McGuire of Mill Hall and Leslie Prebble of Naples, Fla., daughters: Kathy Gannaway of Madisonville, Texas, Susan Brenneman of Lancaster, Pa., Nancy White of Willow Street, Pa., Beth Poleto of Renovo, and Bobbi Siford of Ephrata, Pa. Also surviving are her brothers: Earl Dowling of Farwell, Gene Dowling of Tacoma, Wash., and Robert Dowling of Columbus, Ga. and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1985, daughter: Vicki, sister: Donna, and brothers: Laverne and Leslie. As per her wishes, there will be no services or visitation at this time.
