Sherry L. Snoke

YORK- Sherry Snoke passed from this life on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. She was born August 28, 1946, to Lester and Thelma Steele. In 1967 she married Roy Snoke. She graduated from Northern Bedford High School, from Shippensburg University, and from Nazareth College with a Master’s Degree. Mrs. Snoke taught math and chemistry in Oslo, Minnesota; Mineral Point, Wisconsin; Trumansburg, New York; and Webster, New York. Along with her mother and husband, Mrs. Snoke leaves daughters Stacie Herring (George) of Mechanicsville , Virginia, and Stephanie Snelbaker (James) of Dover, Pennsylvania. There are four grandchildren Grace and Griffin Herring and Carson and Kylie Snelbaker. Siblings include three sisters, Patricia Scott (Ralph) of Hopewell, PA, Cindy Krill ( Jeff) of North Hampton, PA, and Mitzi Heaton ( Don) of York, PA. She also is survived by several nieces and nephews and cousins. Her passions were family, friends, and faith. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church where she sang in the Chancel Choir and New Day. Mrs. Snoke participated in various mission projects and Small Group Bible studies. Formerly she was a Deacon and an Elder as well as children’s choir director, Sunday School and Bible School teacher, and Girl Scout Leader at Webster Presbyterian Church, Webster, New York. She has been on national work camps, volunteered at Mission Central in Mechanicsburg, PA and at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York, PA. In her memory, contributions can be made to any church, college, or charity of your choice. A memorial service is planned for 6PM Monday, July 7, at Zion United Methodist Church, 1030 Carlisle Road, York, PA. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, is in charge of arrangements.
