TROY- Shelly L. (Harkness) Holdren, 46, life long resident of Troy, PA passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Jeffery Holdren. The couple married December 8, 1984 and had 27 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, PA. The funeral service to honor Shelly’s life will be private and at the convenience of her family. Shelly was born on April 16, 1966 in Troy, daughter of Roger D. and Sandra “Sandy” (Morgan) Harkness of Troy. She was a Troy Area High School graduate, Class of 1984, and attended Mansfield University. Shelly has worked for the Martha Lloyd Community in their day program, was a direct care provider for Futures Community Services, and was a childcare provider in her and Jeff’s home. Shelly was very active in her church, The First Baptist Church of Troy. She was president for several years of the American Baptist Woman’s Association and was a volunteer for Special Olympics. The most important things in life to Shelly were her God and her family. She was a loving wife and mother, grandmother, daughter and granddaughter, sister and aunt. Shelly is survived by her husband Jeff, her sons: Devin Lynn Holdren and Dustin Lee Holdren, both of Troy, her granddaughter Kaitlynn Holdren and her mother Kristie Holdren, her parents Roger and Sandy, her sister Stephanie (Brett) Bentley and their son Cody of Troy, her grandmothers: Ruth Morgan and Winifred Harkness, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lots of friends. Shelly was preceded in death by her grandfathers Robert Morgan and Wayne Harkness, her aunt Sharon Sifnakis, her cousin Debbie Stick, her father and mother-in-law Artie and Martha Holdren, Sr. and her special friend Tony Dempsey. Memorial contributions may be made in Shelly’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Troy, 579 Canton Street, Troy, PA 16947.
