FAWN GROVE-Sheldon L. “Skeets” Stahle, Sr., 80, of Fawn Grove, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 10, 2011 at his residence with his family beside him, after a long battle with cancer. Strong to the end he fought his battle with courage and dignity. Sheldon was born May 20, 1931, in Fullerton, Pa, the third born child of the late James O. and Hazel C. (DeShong) Stahle. He is predeceased by two brothers, Baby Boy Stahle and John Stahle. Sheldon is survived by his wife Gloria, to whom he was devoted. They would have celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary on July 26, 2011. He had five children; Sheldon L. Stahle, Jr., and wife Brenda of York; Timothy L. and wife Tobie of Dover, Pa; Kathy J. Taylor wife of Bill of Lancaster, Pa; Joyce McGinley wife of Joe of Lehighton, PA; and Elizabeth Rittenhouse, wife of Randy of Beachwood, New Jersey; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Sheldon is also survived by one brother, James O. Stahle, Jr. of Buck Valley, Pa, cousins and nieces and nephews. Sheldon attended Towson State University and Western Maryland College earning an Associates degree in Biology. He retired from AAI Corporation in Cockeysville, Maryland after twenty-seven years of service in Quality Assurance. Sheldon was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of York. He was an active member of the Fawn Grove Citizens Volunteer Fire Company and was an active churchman in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. A faithful and generous man, he assisted in the building of two Churches: St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Hillendale, MD and the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Towson, MD. Sheldon’s practice was to never let a day go by without telling someone you love how much they mean to you. There will be a viewing from 6PM-7PM followed by Funeral Service celebrating his life, on Friday, July 15 at Grace United Methodist Church, 473 Plank Road, New Freedom, PA. Services will be officiated by Sheldon’s grandson, Pastor Jeffery Slemp of Grace United Methodist Church and Pastor Woodruff of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of York. Refreshments will be served in the Church Hall immediately following the ceremony. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 35 Gotham place in Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to York Cancer Center, Patient Help Fund, 25 Monument Road, Suite 194, York, PA 17403 or York VNA Hospice, 540 S. George Street, 4th Floor, York, PA 17405.
