Shelby Lou (Ecker) Snyder, 77, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Susquehanna Wellness Center. She was the loving wife of Michael L. Snyder to whom she was married for 52 years.
Born October 24, 1947, in Hanover, PA, Shelby was a daughter of the late Leo and Virginia (Jacobs) Ecker. A graduate of New Oxford High School, Shelby's passions extended beyond her professional job at Danskin working as an administrator. She was an expert seamstress with a love for crafting custom gifts for friends and family. Her hobbies included spending time at the “ocean in motion,” boating and fishing, decorating her home especially for Christmas, reading books and spoiling her four-legged friends.
Shelby was also known for her leadership skills, having served as president of the homeowners’ association during her residence in Lewes, Delaware. It was there that she became famous for organizing massive block parties that brought her community together. Shelby always brought the fun to family gatherings and will be fondly remembered for her numerous "grammy-isms," colorful sayings that brought laughter to those around her, most especially her treasured grandchildren.
Shelby's family was at the heart of her life. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael L. Snyder; and two children, Dawn Moore and her husband Richard, and Bob Myers and his wife Jennifer; nine grandchildren: Sarah Gehman, Rebekah Foulds, Bennett Myers, Leah Quigley, Abby Myers, Susannah Moore, Morgan Slack, Evan Strauss, and Evan Myers; along with seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three loving sisters: her twin, Sharon Kopp, older sister Linda Sellers, and younger sister Mitzi Orner; and numerous nieces and nephews who cherished her presence. Shelby is preceded in death by four other siblings.
