Scott T. Smith

YORK – Scott T. Smith, 72, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at his home. He was the husband of the late Debra Jean (Haines) Smith.

Born March 24, 1952 in York, a son of the late Robert and Meredith (Smith) Smith, he was a 1970 graduate of West York High School. Mr. Smith then enlisted in the US Navy where his deployment included a tour in the Arctic Circle. Upon his honorable discharge, Scott worked at Allis Chalmers and began building his construction business. For the past 38 years he owned and operated Scott Smith Construction throughout York County. For many years he enjoyed going on scuba diving trips to the Caribbean with his wife Debra Jean.

Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, Jeffrey S. Smith of Daytona, FL and Alan M. and wife Melissa Kearney of York; two grandchildren, Olivia Kearney of York and Alexis and husband Jake Hogan of Joppatown, MD; and two great grandsons, Elwood and Arthur Hogan. He was preceded in death by his brother, James G. Smith.

Private graveside services will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery with Certified Celebrant Allison Duke officiating. Full Military Rites will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.
