Sara L. (Ditzler) Hess

LAPORTE - Sara L. (Ditzler) Hess, 81, formerly of Lewisburg, died on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the Highlands Care Center, Laporte, PA. Sara was born on July 11, 1929 in Milton and was the daughter of the late Harry Ross and Elsie Gertrude (Snyder) Ditzler. On November 17, 1949, she had married the late Linwood V. Hess, who had died on March 24, 2009. She was a self employed beautician that worked in Milton. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Lutheran Church of Watsontown and the Order of Eastern Star, Lewisburg. Sara is survived by two brothers; Jesse L. Ditzler of Poughkeepsie, NY and Robert G. Ditzler of Lairdsville, two sisters; Ethel C. Gemberling of Towson, MD and Nancy J. Hall of Covington, GA, and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers; Kenneth R., Harry F. and Richard E. Ditzler and three sisters; Mildred P. Newton, Marguerite L. Lindaeur and Edith G. Metz. In keeping with Sara's wishes, there will be no public viewing. A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy with the Reverend Gerald D. Wagner officiating the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 71 North Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701. Arrangements are being handled by The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton, PA 17847.
