AIRVILLE - Sara L. (Miller) Atkins, 79, died at 11:58 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Hospice of Lancaster County. She was the wife of Howard R. Atkins with whom she celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary on June 5th. Following cremation, a Celebration of Life Service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Salem United Methodist Church, 5042 Delta Rd., Delta with Pastor Judy L. Walker of the Delta Bryansville U.M. Charge and Pastor Richard J. Sharrock of Salem U.M. Church officiating. A visitation with light refreshments will immediately follow the service at church. Private burial will be in the church cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Atkins was born June 10, 1929, in Woodbine, Lower Chanceford Twp. She was the daughter of the late Clarence M. and Estella (Wright) Miller. She was a loving homemaker and had been a long-time member of Salem United Methodist Church and Sunday School in Delta. She was a graduate of the former Lower Chanceford High School and was a member of both the Daughters of the American Colonists and the Farm Women - Group 29. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Atkins is survived by two sons, Howard R. Atkins, II and wife, JoAnn of Delta, and Clarence Preston Atkins of Airville; two daughters, Susan L. Nissley and husband, Stephen of Sherman, ME and Mary A. Wilson of Airville; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Isler of Winter Haven, FL and Nancy Eichelberger of Airville; and a brother-in-law, Jay L. Atkins of Darlington, MD. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Donald and Abe Miller and two sisters, Jeanette Snow and Audrey Grove.
