Sandra E. Steele

Sandra E. (Hartwell) Steele, 82, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at York South Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the wife of George K. Steele to whom she was married for 61 years.

Born July 12, 1942 in Springvale, she was the daughter of the late Ward R. and Viola (Lutz) Hartwell.

She was a loving and dedicated homemaker to her husband and family, who enjoyed the simple things in life. An avid reader, she also loved puzzles and cooking for her family. She enjoyed bird watching from her kitchen window or porch and every year she counted the days until spring, so she could find joy in planting her pansies.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Steele is also survived by two sons, Mark Steele and his wife, Cindy of Lancaster and Thomas Steele of York; one daughter, Karen Leiphart and her husband, David of Red Lion; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Hartwell.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
