Sandra Phyllis Frey

RED LION- Sandra Phyllis (Smeltzer) Frey, 71 of Chanceford Township passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at her residence. She married her best friend and the love of her life, Lind Frey on March 8, 1969. They recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Services will be private with burial in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is assisting the family with the arrangements. Mrs. Frey was born on February 16, 1950, to the late James Smeltzer and Phyllis (Wilson) Smeltzer of Red Lion. At a young age she had a desire to be a nurse or a teacher. She had a compassionate heart to help and care for others. Sandra pursued nursing and received her LPN License and worked for York Hospital for 33 years. There she began working as needed for a variety of units, but soon after found her calling in helping those on the Psychiatric Unit. After retirement, God opened the door for her other loves: children and art. She taught art for Grasp, a homeschooling co-op for three years. She loved the Lord with all her heart, everything she did was for Him! God put so many wonderful friends in her life, as well as those He placed in her path. Today she’s with the Lord! I am sure she has heard the words “Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant”. Mrs. Frey was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Red Lion. She loved arts and crafts, piano, nature, and wildlife. Sandra was devoted to the precious gifts God blessed her with, her family. She is a caring and loving wife, mother, mamma, and child of God. Along with her husband, Lind, she leaves two daughters, Michelle Kennedy and her husband Gene, Angela Burks and her husband, Jeffrey; a son, Justin Frey and his wife Cheryl; and two grandchildren, Kevin Kennedy and Bryce Tyson. She also leaves a brother Kerry Smeltzer and his wife Delores; a sister-in-law, Dawn Smeltzer; a niece Joni Smeltzer; and a nephew, James Smeltzer. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Smeltzer. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion, PA 17356.
