Samuel D. Leiphart

Samuel D. Leiphart, 85, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Beverly A. (Horn) Leiphart.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00PM, Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Officiating the service will be Rev. Larry Katz. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00PM, Thursday at the funeral home. Military honors will be held at the funeral home, provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Born October 19, 1937 in Brogueville, he was a son of the late Earl and Rachel (Altland) Leiphart.

He worked as an electrical engineer for several years before his employment as a postal carrier with the United States Postal Service.

Sam lived a life guided by faith in God and he attended Genesis Church in Seven Valleys for over 30 years. He developed a passion for aviation while he was serving in the United States Air Force and held his private pilot’s license for many years. Samuel was also a skillful artist who loved painting pictures of wildlife and military and small engine aircrafts.

Mr. Leiphart is survived by one son, Daniel J. Leiphart and his wife, Daneille of Edmond, OK; three grandsons, Nathan, Seth and Cooper; one brother, Donnie Leiphart of Red Lion; one sister, Geraldine Snyder of Red Lion and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Marlin Leiphart and one sister, Janet Heist.
