S. Morris West, Jr.

RED LION – S. Morris West, Jr., 79, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 at his home. He was the spouse of Nicholas Klise with whom he spent 53 years living together and was married on May 31, 2014. Funeral services and burial will be private. Born April 18, 1935 in Clarksville, Texas a son of the late Floy (Scott) and Morris West, Sr., he retired from Becton Dickinson Co. in Hunt Valley, MD where he was a microbiologist working in quality control of analytical equipment. Mr. West was a member of North American Rock Garden Society for which he has been given two service awards and one nationally recognized Award of Merit. Morris has also authored many articles for their Rock Garden Quarterly. He was a past board member of the Horticultural Society of Maryland. Morris and Nick were world travelers and plant collectors. They were instrumental in discovering an Alpine plant in the Rocky Mountains that is now grown and enjoyed in many parts of the world. In addition to his husband, Nicholas Klise, Mr. West is survived by a cousin, Jerry West of Camden, Arkansas.
