THOMASVILLE- S. Lee Edris, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Doris A. (Fitzkee) Edris to whom he was married for 60 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Pastor Brad Dayett officiating. A viewing will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. prior to the service. Born on May 22, 1934 in Cleona, Lebanon County, a son of the late Peter G. and Emma (Smith) Edris. Mr. Edris worked construction with Epstein & Sons until his retirement. Prior to, he was employed by Wayneco Inc., Paul Edris Construction, and E.T. Schimmel. Mr. Edris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in East Berlin and the Prince Athletic Club. Lee enjoyed playing cards, riding his motorcycle, mowing his lawn, visiting the hunting camp and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. Along with his wife, Doris, Lee is survived by his five children, Michelle O’Neill of Grayslake, IL; Scott Edris (Lynn); Lisa Currens (Jon Weaver); Alison Vedder (Chris); and Heather Edris Smith (Andrew) - all from York County; 14 grandchildren, Aubrey, Erin, Michael and Kevin O’Neill, Mark Edris, Amanda Leslie, Angela and Laura Currens, Christopher, Alisa and Adam Vedder and Emilie, Elena and Natalie Smith; six great grandchildren, Gideon and Isabel Leslie, Dylan and Ella Jacobson, Kayleigh Vedder, Kassidy Vedder-Jones, and one on the way. Lee was especially proud of his family. He is also survived by a sister, Merby Brenneman of Mt. Wolf. He was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne, Lloyd, Harold, Paul and Warren Edris; and sisters, Emma Smith and Cordelia Huber. In honor of Lee's deceased son-in-law John (Jack) O'Neill, memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851, in lieu of flowers.
