DOVER – S. David Hoenstine, 69, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of Brenda L. (Frey) Hoenstine to whom he was married for 24 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Pastor Bill Mummert of GBC Church, Gettysburg officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at Bedford Co. Memorial Park. Born October 18, 1944 in Bedford, a son of the late Stanley W. and Mary M. (Mowery) Hoenstine, he retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1998. Following his retirement, David began his farming career raising Texas Longhorn cattle and grain. He was a member of York Co. Farm Bureau, South Central PA Cattleman’s Assoc., and Northeast Texas Longhorn Assoc. David loved nothing better than being around his cattle and on the farm. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hoenstine is survived by two sons, Troy L. Hoenstine of York, Greg A. and wife Cindy Hoenstine of New Bridgeville; two stepsons, Jim C. and wife D’Neill Rexroth and Jeremy J. and wife Kelli Rexroth both of Windsor; two grandsons; six step grandchildren; a brother, Earl E. and wife Edith Hoenstine of Osterburg, Bedford Co.; and a sister, Lynette and husband Ross Cook of Bedford. Cemetery: 12:00 Noon on Monday, September 8, 2014.
