Ruth V. (Swain) Sweitzer

YORK- Ruth V. (Swain) Sweitzer, 77, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at York Hospital. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Reverend Judy Strayer and the Reverend Craig Newton officiating. A viewing will be from 9:30- 11 a.m. prior to the service. Born on December 2, 1936 in Warfordsburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd H. and Margaret R. (Fisher) Swain. Ruth was a computer operator for CBY Systems for over 25 years until her retirement. Ms. Sweitzer was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in York. Ruth is survived by one son, Donald R. Sweitzer, Jr. and his companion, Lori of Newberrytown; two daughters, Peggy J. Weitzel and her husband, Kim of Gaithersburg, MD and Ellen J. Strayer and her husband, Jeffrey of York; five grandchildren, Jeremiah Yohe, Bradley Yohe, Lindsay Kennedy, Caitlyn Sweitzer and Benjamin Weitzel; great grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Swain and his wife, Judy of Needmore; two sisters, Marjorie Michael and her husband, Ralph of Greencastle and Alda Black and her husband, James of Duncansville; and a sister in law, H. Lenore Swain of Needmore. She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Swain.
