Ruth R. Glatfelter

YORK – Ruth R. (Trimmer) Glatfelter, 95, died peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2017 while in hospice care. She was the wife of the late Jules A. “Duke” Glatfelter who died in 1991. A Celebration of Life Tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Kealey Smartnick officiating. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Ruth was born in York, PA to the late Chester and Sadie (Sweeney) Trimmer and was a 1940 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. She retired from McCrory’s Distribution Center. Ruth enjoyed reading, shopping, interior decorating at home, watching Penn State football games and spending time with her family. Mrs. Glatfelter is survived by her son, Stephen A. Glatfelter and wife Karen Becker-Glatfelter of Mount Joy; her sister-in-law Roxanna Trimmer of Westbrook, ME; several nieces and nephews in PA, ME and NC; and also several grand nieces and grand nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by siblings; Dorothy, Honey, Chet and Arlene; a niece, Beverly Sheldon; and nephews, Mike Trimmer, Jeffrey Albright and Terry Trimmer.
