Ruth P. Showers

Lewisburg - Ruth P. (Bickhart) Showers, 94 a former resident of S. 20th Street passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 at Geisinger Medical Center where she was a patient since Thursday. She was born January 10, 1914 in Lewistown the daughter of William & Sara (Martin) Bickhart. Ruth was married to Abram J. Showers who died in 1981. She worked in the greenhouse at Country Cupboard, Lewisburg for 20 years. She was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church and attended New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church of Lewisburg. Ruth enjoyed crocheting and daily visits to Dunkin Donuts in Lewisburg where she gathered with friends for coffee. She was a member of West Milton Garden Club and the White Deer Twp., Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are two sons William A. Showers of W. Milton and Roy E. "Pete" Showers of Port Orange, FL 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A granddaughter Peggy Leininger of New Columbia who she raised. One brother Eugene "Davy" Bickhart of Middleburg Two sisters Wanda Lombard of Sunbury and Iris Lepley of Winfield. Several nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law Mary Fairman of Watsontown. Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter V. Jean Berkheimer and two sons Lee and Merrill Showers and five brothers Rudolph, Meryl, John, James and Paul "Pete" also four sisters Erma Long, Miriam Heany, Kathryn Cregger and June Gemberling. The funeral service will be held 8:00 P.M., Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton with Rev. David McCarty officiating.
