York—Ruth P. (Longenecker) Brockley, 77, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at her residence in West Manchester Township. A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Madison Avenue Church of the Brethren, 645 Madison Ave, York, with her pastor, Pastor Richard E. Godfrey officiating. A visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m., at the church. Burial will be held in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg at 2 p.m. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Brockley was born February 4, 1932 in Franklin Township, a daughter of the late Emmert C. and Ida E. (Newell) Longenecker. She was employed as a Mary Kay Consultant for 27 years. She also worked as Secretary/Receptionist for York Casket Company, Green's Dairy, Campbell Chain and C. H. Musselman Company. A member of Madison Avenue Church of the Brethren, she was also an avid reader. Mrs. Brockley is survived by one daughter, Kimberly A. Shoemaker and her husband, Eric of Dover, one son, Richard C. Brockley of Dover, three grandchildren, Kirk, Alison and Tonia Shoemaker. She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris L. Grace.
