HOLLIDAYSBURG- Ruth May (Bohr) List, 97, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Alleghany Lutheran Home in Hollidaysburg. She was the wife of the late Francis C. List. The couple were married 61 years prior to Francis’ passing in 2005. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 1:30PM on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York, with her Pastor, Reverend Kevin T. Shively, officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30PM prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born October 18, 1921 in Gorsach Mills, MD, Ruth was a daughter of the late John Henry and Nora Ann (Garner) Bohr. She worked as an accounting clerk at Read Corp. and Careva Corp. for many years. Mrs. List was a faithful member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she was involved in many activities, including: acting as secretary for social ministries, she helped chair the alter guild, served as church class officer, was a Sunday school kindergarten teacher, headed organizing the funeral luncheons, volunteered running the blood drive for the Red Cross, and was a member of WELCA. Ruth enjoyed being a member and participating in the Bell Choir at the Lutheran Home. She loved working with her flowers and was gifted in gardening. Ruth’s greatest love was her family and spending time with them, especially her children and grandchildren. Mrs. List is survived by a son, Dr. Alan F. List and his wife Kimberly of Tampa, Fl; a daughter, Sandra I. McNelis and her husband William of Altoona; four grandchildren, Allison, Tricia, and Matthew McNelis, and McKenzie List, and four great grandchildren, Harper Kerr, Adeline and Elouise Carpenter, and Mattysin McNelis. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by five brothers, Harvey, Wilton, Worden, Earl and Robert, and three sisters, Alice, Elsie, and Ethel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, or the Alzheimer’s Associates, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
