Ruth L. Wertz

POTTSVILLE- Ruth L. Wertz, 92, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday evening at Schuylkill Center, East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on December 6, 1920, she was a daughter of the late William and Mamie Lindenmuth Evans. Ruth was a 1938 graduate of Pottsville High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pottsville. She was also a life long member of the Order of Eastern Star, where she served as a past matron. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred “Abe” J. Wertz, who passed away on March 18, 2012 and to whom she was married 69 years; her son, Gary Wertz, who passed away in 1964; her brother, John Evans. Ruth is survived by her son, Ronald Wertz, husband of Margaret, of Danville; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Steely, of Sun City West, AZ; her granddaughter, Ruth Lynn Vesledahl, wife of Todd, of Cave Creek, AZ; her great grandsons, Zachary Vesledahl, of Northridge, CA and Aaron Vesledahl, of Cave Creek, AZ; her sister, Gloria Becker, of Pine Grove; her sister-in-law, Peggy Evans, of Pottsville; several nieces and nephews; her close family friends, Bright and Suzanne Eiler and Jessica Keck, all of Pottsville. Funeral services and interment will be private. Private interment will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Memorial contributions can be sent to Hillside SPCA, P.O.
