Ruth L. Snyder

MILTON - Ruth L. (DeWald) Snyder, 87 a former resident of the Muncy area passed away Friday, March 12, 2010 at Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Unit. She was born May 11, 1922 daughter of the late George and Laura DeWald of Muncy RD. Graduated from Jerseytown, Madison Township High School in 1939. She was married 53 years to William A. Snyder son of Harry and Martha Snyder of Eagles Mere. She lived most of her life in the Muncy area except for nine years when she and her husband lived in Virginia. Her husband passed away in 1993 and she moved to Lewisburg in 1996 where she resided at Heritage House until March 12, 2010 when she went home to be with the Lord. She can now rejoice in the Lord's presence and sing to Him a new song (Psalm 33:1-30). Ruth joins a chorus of angels, free from the cares of this world after a prolonged period of illness. Once again she is able to smile and laugh, this time with her Savior whom she loved. She can now see Him face to face. What great joy that must be for her. She was a member of the Lewisburg Bible Church where she sang in the Senior Choir and was active in the church. She was known for her quiet, caring demeanor and all who knew her could not help but love her. She enjoyed sewing for other residents at Heritage House and participated in Bible Studies and other events conducted there. Throughout her life she worked at various jobs, but her great compassion was being a homemaker and caring for her children. She was a true example of Proverbs 31:10-31. Ruth was a very caring person, always looking out for others often sacrificing herself for them. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved spending time with her Great Grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her. When difficulties arose, she was always the one calming the storm. She has two sons, Bill, married to Bernadine (Speary), Manheim PA, Mike, Cleo, SC and two daughters, Peggy, married to Preston Head, Little Rock SC, Ann (deceased) married to Dannie Heffner, Lewisburg, PA. Ruth is survived by six grandchildren, Jeannette McCullough (John), Quarryville, PA, JoAnne Stewart (Jim), Strasburg, PA, Mark Snyder (Daphne) Pottsville, PA, David Snyder (Jolene) Mountville, PA, Corey Snyder (Jenifer) Williamsport, PA, and Deana Heffner, Woodruff, SC. Also surviving her are eleven great grandchildren and one great great, grandchild. She is also survived by one sister, Mabel Robbins, Lewisburg, PA and one sister in law, Hilda DeWald, married to brother Howard now deceased. A private visitation for family will be held at the Dale E. Rank, Funeral Service, 125 North Front Street, Milton, PA on March 15, 2010 at 10:30 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Lewisburg Bible Church, 311 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837, at 12:00. Officiating will be her Pastor Roger Wenger and Pastor John McCullough. All are invited to attend the service. Flowers or memorial contributions may be sent to the church.
