Ruth Josephine (Hower) Voris

MILTON - Ruth Josephine (Hower) Voris, 89, formerly of Hauser Lane, Watsontown and Williamsport, died on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the Kramm Health Care Center, Milton. Ruth was born on July 11, 1920 in Danville and was the daughter of the late George M. and Mary E. (Murray) Hower. On November 10, 1962, she married John A. Voris who had died in 1992. She was Lutheran by faith. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, camping, fishing and square dancing. Ruth is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Stephen G. and Ellen Beard of Milton, one daughter and son-in-law; Donna M. and Robert D. Fisher of Allenwood, six grandchildren; Glenda Hollenbach of New Berlin, Keith Beard of Vermont, Michael Beard of NC, Stephanie Brewer of NC, Darrell Reish of Milton and Tammy Caswell of Watsontown, four great grandchildren; Airman Megan Brewer of Omaha, Nebraska, James D. Brewer, III of NC, Noah Wilson of Milton and Jonathan Caswell of Watsontown, one brother and sister-in-law; George P. and Dorothy Hower of Milton, one sister; Anna Margaret Good of Camp Hill and one sister-in-law; Agnes Hower of Bloomsburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter; Margaret L. Greene, one grandson; Jeffrey S. Ameigh and two brothers; Arthur C. and James Donald Hower. There will be a graveside service 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the Milton Cemetery with the Reverend Jerry L. Caswell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 71 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701. Arrangements are being handled by the Dale E.
