Ruth (Haines) Konkus

WELLSBURG, NY Ruth (Haines) Konkus 94, passed away April 25, 2012 in Raleigh, NC after a short illness. Ruth was born in Wellsburg, NY April 13, 1918 where she lived for 91 years. She was predeceased in death by her parents John & Mabel (Baker) Haines and by her husband Michael Konkus on February 24, 1990. She is remembered in love and adoration by her children, Michael Konkus and wife Arlene of Wake Forest, NC, Charles Konkus and wife Janice of Elmira, NY, Paul Konkus and wife Joyce of Hamilton, VA, and Linda (Konkus) Burnham and husband Stanley of Elmira, NY. Memories of Ruth will also be treasured by her grandchildren, Michelle (Konkus) Stantz, Stephanie (Konkus) Cost, Meredith Konkus, Marsha (Konkus) DeVantier, Michael Paul Konkus, Sarah Konkus, Deborah (Konkus) Morgan, Alicia Burnham and Stanley Burnham. She is also remembered by her 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, life- long friend Dorothy Donald and many other friends in both New York and North Carolina. Ruth worked for many years as the Postmaster at the US Post Office in Wellsburg. She was an expert seamstress who enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family playing cards, Scrabble and doing crosswords. She was a joy to all the lives she touched with her kind soul and sweet nature. The family will receive friends for calling hours at Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY on Monday, April 30, 2012 from 7 to 9 PM. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 11:30 AM at the Lake Street Presbyterian Church, 300 Lake Street Elmira, NY. A reception at the church will immediately follow the service with interment to be held at the convenience of the family in Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY.
