Ruth H. Newcomer

YORK- Ruth H. (Houseal) Newcomer, 89 passed away Friday, January 30, 2009 at Manor Care North. She was the wife of the late Spencer L. Newcomer. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM Monday, February 2, 2009 in Mt. Rose Cemetery, with her pastor Rev. Diane G. Wenthe officiating. Anyone who wishes to attend the service should meet at the Mt. Rose cemetery entrance at 1:45PM. Born on December 11, 1919 in Manchester, a daughter to the late Earl C. and Lillas (Robertson) Houseal, she was last employed at York College. Mrs. Newcomer was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being a grandmother to her grandson, Drew. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and birds. Mrs. Newcomer is survived by two daughters, Stephanie N. and her husband James Carl of Harrisburg and Melanie L. and her husband Robert Holtzapple of Dover; one grandson Drew R. Holtzapple; two nephews, Kevin and Jonathon Kunkle; and one niece, Anne Platts. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Kunkle and Madeline Houseal.
