New Oxford—Ruth H. (Hershey) Wolfgang, 91, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Cross Keys Village The Brethren Home Community. She was the loving wife of Millard H. “Bud” Wolfgang, Jr., who passed away September 20, 2011 and to whom she was married for 71 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 PM, Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Nicarry Meeting House in the Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, with her pastor, the Rev. Donald Hubbell officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, Friday in the Nicarry Meeting House. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, is in charge of arrangements. Born February 29, 1920 in York, she was daughter of the late Mary (Brenneman) Hershey and Paul P. Hershey. She was a graduate of William Penn High School and attended Elizabethtown College. She worked at Hershey’s 5 & 10 and Wolfgang’s Shoes and Sporting Goods Store after which she was Vice President and Treasurer of P.A.D.E for 31 years. She retired in 1988. She was a member of First Church of Brethren and The Home Builders Sunday School Class. When her children were young, she taught Sunday school and was in charge of the Cradle Roll. She was also a member of Elizabethtown College Alumni Association and The Brethren Home Auxiliary. She was a loving and devoted Mother. Her leisure activities included fishing, swimming, boating, ice skating and hosting picnics, dinners and special celebrations for family and friends. Mrs. Wolfgang is survived by a son, Millard H. “Skip” Wolfgang, III and wife, Sherry of Big Pine Key, FL; a daughter, Nancy W. Anthony and husband, Bernard of York; a brother, Jacob B. Hershey and wife, Esther; a sister, Rhea Grissinger; brother-in-law, Donald Wolfgang and wife, Jane and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Brethren Home Foundation, Good Samaritan Fund, 2990 Carlisle Pike, P.O. Box 128, New Oxford, Pa 17350 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 2449 S. Queen Street, York, Pa 17402 or First Church of the Brethren, 2710 Kingston Rd., York, Pa 17402. The Family is very grateful for the excellent, loving, compassionate care that Ruth received from the staff at The Brethren Home Community and the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice.
