Ruth E. (Sturm) Cruz

DOVER – Ruth E. (Sturm) Cruz, 92, passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Sally Greco. Mrs. Cruz was the wife of the late Ernest Cruz. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 8:00 PM Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with her grandson, Pastor Paul Greco officiating. Viewings will be held from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held at 2:15 PM Friday, September 21, 2018 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens, NY. Born May 1, 1926 in Hollis, Queens, NY; a daughter of the late Otto and Eugenie (Stolz) Sturm, she earned her Registered Nurse Degree from Cornell University School of Nursing. Ruth had also earned her Bachelor’s Degree from NYIT and also was proud to have served in the Nurse Cadet Corps during the WWII era. Mrs. Cruz retired as a nursing supervisor from Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, baking for her family and gardening. Mrs. Cruz is survived by a son, Robert A. Cruz of Hollister, CA; two daughters, Sally J. and husband Anthony Greco, Jr. of York and Susan D. Cruz of Miami, FL; four grandchildren, Lisa and Julia Greco, Paul and wife Leah Greco and Gabrielle and husband Joshua Grandstaff; nine great grandchildren, Tristin, Ashley, Amber, Owen, Zoe, Ryan, Alaina, Valerie and Ethan; and a close niece, Rosemarie LaBianca of Stonybrook, Long Island. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Kohler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge, c/o Finance Department, P.O.
