Ruth E. Signor

WILLIAMSPORT - Ruth E. (Bower) Signor, 92, a former resident of South Williamsport, passed away, Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at Rose View Center. She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Williamsport, the daughter of Jack and Edna (Gardner) Sperry. Ruth was married to James W. "Jim" Signor who died July 23, 2015. She worked as a sales clerk at the former Hill’s Department Store. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts. Ruth was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, South Williamsport, where she was a soloist in the church choir. Surviving are three sons, Richard (Georgie) Bower, of DuBoistown, Steven (Rita) Bower, of South Williamsport and Michael (Cheryl) Bower, of Hughesville; two daughters, Suzanne Decker, of Nisbet and Deborah (James) Rishel, of South Williamsport; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Jacque Jay, of Chambersburg and Judy Follmer, of Nisbet. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Marie Bower and Kimberly K. Davis; also a brother, Harold Sperry and two sisters, Betty Johns and Thelma Decker. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept., 30, 2015, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 Howard St., South Williamsport, with the Rev. Joshua L. Reinsburrow officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., has charge of arrangements.
