YORK – Ruth D. (Bupp) Potter, 89, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Charles R. Potter, Jr. to whom she was married for 71 years on March 13, 2015. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born February 7, 1926 in York, a daughter of the late Walter A. and Irene (Osborne) Bupp, she was a 1944 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. Mrs. Potter was a hard working woman who in addition to raising seven children always held a job. She was a private tax consultant for many years, served as program director at WSBA radio, and worked alongside her husband as owner and operator of both Freedman Brothers Electrical and Potter’s York Haven Hotel. She was a member and past president of Hellam VFW Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered with Area Agency on Aging. Ruth had been active with Girl Scouts of America and the PTA during her children’s school years. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Potter is survived by four sons, Charles Potter, III and wife Patricia, Dennis and wife Kimberly Potter, Doug Potter and fiancée Kimberly, and Greg and wife Victoria Potter all of York; two daughters, Gwenn and husband John Bloss and Debra and husband Michael Kostiha both of York; nine grandchildren, Charles “Chuck” Potter, IV, Sheri Mercado, Barry Hall, Jr., James Hall, Corey Potter, Chad Baker, Shannen Libera, Lydia and Melody Potter; 12 great grandchildren, Zachary Potter, Ricky Mercado, Brittany, Mason, and Grantley Hall, Brianna and Bryce Potter, Taylor Minnich, Kamdyn Baker, Maddox Libera, Channing and Delaney Baker; and one great great grandson, Tegan Minnich. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard W. Potter; a granddaughter, Trina Hall; a great granddaughter, Cierra Angelica; and a brother, Walter Bupp, Jr.
